Pieces of Eight

This set includes a replica of the Spanish Milled Dollar, also known as "pieces of eight," which was commonly used in colonial America. The expression "2 bits" to mean a quarter of a dollar came from this breaking of the dollar coin into 8 pieces.  This is a fun visual to use in studying history and fractions! 

Each Pieces of Eight package contains one complete reproduction of the Spanish milled dollar, along with 8 bits, 4 quarters, and 2 halves of milled dollar reproductions. All pieces are cast in lead-free pewter and are packaged together in a poly bag with a history insert.
